Check Out This Steampunk AT-AT Walker

I know I wouldn’t mind getting this as an engagement present, and I’m not even into steampunk all that much!

It was created by Mark a.k.a. Broken Journalist to give to his fiancée as an engagement present. She must be a big Star Wars and steampunk fan because I don’t know many girls that would be happy to get something like this as an engagement present. That’s a special kind of geek girl.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII Fan Art – “We’re Back”

Many fans have been curious how the older versions of our favorite Star Wars characters would look on the big screen, but rhymesyndicate went so far at the draw out that vision!

Here’s the artist’s thoughts:

As a long-time fan of Star Wars I was overjoyed to hear that there are finally plans for more feature films now that George Lucas has sold the franchise to Disney. I know not everyone agrees – but I’ve been waiting for this since 1983 and I think it’s great news!

The momentous event prompted me to dust off my digital pen and draw this picture to show how I imagine the lead characters might look now. I have no idea if the plan is to use the same actors in the new movie – although I really hope they do.

I also gave them new costumes – nothing radical – just variations on what we saw them wear in the original trilogy. I’d love to design new characters and costumes for the new movies – but for this piece the main thing was to get the actors’ likenesses right and I’m pleased with the result.

What do you think of these older versions of Luke, Leia, Han, Lando, and Chewy?

Star Wars Bits: Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, and Hollywood’s Hopefuls

/Film has a great update on Star Wars Episode VII casting news. Here’s their roundup:

  • Carrie Fisher told fans at a book signing that she will, in fact, be a part of Star Wars Episode VII.
  • Billy Dee Williams gave his thoughts while buying an Icee.
  • Avengers villain Tom Hiddleston and former Doctor Who, David Tennant, would both love to be a part of the film.

More specifically, Carrie Fisher told TheForce.net regarding her return, “I thought it was already common knowledge.” There have been many rumors of Fisher’s return, as well as Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford’s, however nothing has been confirmed by the actors before now.

Billy Dee Williams was approach on the streets to ask if he would reprise his role of Lando Calrissian, to which he replied “I suppose so”, but did not confirm whether or not he’d been approached about the new project.

In recent interviews, Hollywood favorites The Avengers’ Tom Hiddleston and Doctor Who‘s David Tennant confirmed that they’re very interested in working on the new films in pretty much any role that could be offered to them. Do you think they’ve got what it takes to be a part of such a great franchise?

Vote Brad Bird for Director of STAR WARS 2015!

Today the fate of the Presidency and the United States of America rests in the hands of the country’s citizens. It’s a pretty big deal, but you know what else is a big deal? Who ends up directing Star Wars Episode VII. There’s a rumor that it could end up being Matthew Vaughn, which is cool. I wouldn’t complain if he got it, but Brad Bird is at the top of my list of directors to take on the Star Wars franchise. Here’s an awesome campaign video from The Unlearning Channel explaining why we should elect Bird to direct the next installment of the franchise!
